Humanizing Inhumanly Perfect Digital Text

Today I looked at the title and felt annoyed — the text looked perfect. I don’t like “perfect.” If it looks mechanical, it also looks sterile. I don’t like mechanical or sterile. If the curves are perfect, I don’t like them.

I decided to outline the text by hand to impart a handmade look that says, “A real flesh and blood human made this.” With only 12 layers to work with ( Procreate allows 12 layers for 8000x4000px image ), I had a problem — I already had 12 layers. I had to merge two layers to create a layer for tracing.

The title now looks like a human made it. It’s definitely not perfect now.
