Flaky Huion Drivers

Today is a short day for me. I’ll be out of town for most of the day. Unfortunately, the few hours I have this morning have been spent dealing with Huion drivers. After installing the latest update for my pen display, my stylus no longer worked consistently. Now and then it was perfect, and then it wouldn’t register a mark, even after restarting the drivers. My solution was to uninstall the 2020 drivers and revert to the 2017 drivers.

I’ve watched a lot of pen display reviews on Youtube. So many of them have link-bait titles that proclaim that a new product is a “Cintiq killer.” Link-bait works in this case because we know that Cintiqs are the absolute best digital drawing tools, and that they are also the absolute most expensive pen displays. They’re desirable. How wonderful it would be to find a cheap clone that’s as good as a Cintiq at 1/3 the price! It’s a sweet fantasy.

All I will say is that my Huion was cheap, and it’s okay, but it’s really annoying when it doesn’t work as well as the Cintiq it was supposed to kill.
