Another New Page for My Children's Book

I’ve had to add three new images to go with the changes I’ve made to the plot. The picture above show that my jaguar character has to leave his new friends because his dad expects him to be home in time for dinner. In this picture he has hitched are ride back to the family restaurant in the delivery courier’s basket. For the background I sampled a small section of the landscape background I used for page 23.

Page 18: Jimmy Gives Betty Burry A Plane Ticker

I added this picture today because I’ve changed the story a bit. This picture shows Jimmy giving Betty a plane ticket. The conductor was about to kick her off the plane when Jimmy remembered that his mother had given him an extra ticket, just in case. Naturally, he gave the ticket to his new friend. What a generous spirit!

Now that all of the kids are flying to Mexico, I have to remove the page where Betty carries her two new friends from Oregon to Mexico. Don’t worry about all of these revisions. It’s all going to work out in the end. Really!

Page 43 Revised with a Background of a Billion Butterflies

Today I revisited page 43, in which Buddy and his cousin are riding North. In the background sky thousands of butterflies follow the migration. The picture looks a little flat and static, but I’m happy with it…for now at least. Tomorrow I’ll be working on page 44 which will show Buddy’s friends watching him disappear into the horizon.

I plan to add two new page to the end before I go through all of the images to correct my many inconsistencies. My deadline for this is to publish on August 31, the day before I start working on my part-time job after a hiatus or three months of unemployment.

I completely redrew this page today. It wasn’t in my plans, but when I saw the figures I didn’t like the composition. I moved characters around and I improved my butterfly brush. I gave my jaguar friend a bigger part in the picture. He’s being comforting to Betty.

Before I’m finished with this picture, I will replace the digital gradient with a hand-painted gradient. Digital gradients really drag a picture down. Tomorrow I’ll add shading and highlights and be done with this one.
