Page 24 and 25, a Two-page Spread

The image that I’m using for pages 24 and 25 is one of the first pages I painted when I started this book eons ago. Tupa is shoiwng Betty Burro the abandoned Moai city that has been uninhabited, except for Tupa, for 300 years. Tupa lives in a tumbled down ruin by himself as he waits for his parents to wake up from the curse that the volcano demon has laid on them.

My workflow has become more clear to me now that I’m comfortable with my graphics programs. I use Photoshop for sketching and inking — it has the brushes I like best. Though Clip Studio Paint EX can import Photoshop brushes, the imported brushes don’t work to my liking. For painting, Krita has marvelous brushes that suit my current skill level. I especially like the Digital Atelier brushes. I’m not, however, excited about the line drawing brushes. Once the picture is inked and painted, I import the picture into Clip Studio Paint to prepare them for export to InDesign.

It would be nice if there were a program that had all of the features that I like in Krita, Photoshop, and Clip Studio Paint, but for now, I’m thankful that I have three awesome programs to work with.
