Concept Art For My Third Children's Picture Book

Concept art for book 3, which currently doesn’t have a title

Today I began sketching some ideas for my third children’s picture book. The first picture shows Jimmy washed up on a beach. Is he dead? Is he alive? Well, that remains to be seen.

For this book, the story starts in media res, which is a literary term for starting the story in the middle rather that at the chronological beginning. Examples of this story-telling device are Homer’s Odyssey, Breaking Bad, and Star Wars (which was actually the fourth movie in a seven-part series).

I’ll use flashbacks to tell the story of how he ended up 4,000 miles off course. Sounds like fun to me!
