I’ve wrestled with this image all week, and I’m nearing the finish line, except for one more gigantic hurdle: Betty Burro’s eyes. I’ve drawn them a dozen times and each time I try, they get wonkier. I’m going to take a step back, draw them with pencil and paper, and scan them into Clip Studio Paint.
I understand why some cartoonists don’t bother with eyes — they’re nothing but trouble! Why not avoid the whole mess and just put two dots on the face. I’m looking at you, Hergé.
