My Second Children's Picture Book Is Finished

Today I underwent a grueling editing and proofreading session with my partner. Thanks to her endless patience and professional skills we were able to arrive at a clean and final PDF suitable for publishing. We relentlessly scoured all 48 pages for errors and saved the FINAL pdf at 7:35 PM.

Proofreading and editing is the hardest part of publishing a book. It would be so easy to say “it’s good enough, just print it the way it is,” but we didn’t surrender. We fixed every damned bug.

I’m so exhausted now that I don’t trust myself to submit the PDF to Ingramspark for publishing. I’ll do that tomorrow after I get a good night’s sleep.

My eBook Is Published

Today I completed the ePub 3 version of my children’s picture book. I started in December, 2019, and finished January 10, 2020. I was fully employed at a square job for the first year, and for the last two weeks I have been worked full-time as a writer and artist. The ePub needs one more visual inspection by Ingramspark and the publishing process will be complete. Since this is a fixed format eBook, Ingramspark will distribute it only to Apple Books and Kobo. I’m okay with that — in my mind I’ve released the book and it’s now out in the world. I wish it well!

And now, it’s time to move on to writing and drawing my next book.

Today’s sketch was inspired by Yujiro Koyama. I’m loving my freehand “speed” lines.
