One week's work accidentally deleted

This is a perfect example of what my initial sketches look like.

While working on pages 59 and 60, I cropped the pages to create the image I posted yesterday. As I made the crop, I planned undo all of the edits so that I could return the pages to their original condition. But…I forgot and those pages are gone forever. Life is full of unexpected events. After I redo the pages, they’ll probably look better than the originals.

Page 32 is a complicated page with a detailed background. To rein myself in and force myself to use a proven method that will keep from getting confused. I’ll ink the page, then block in the colors, then add the shading.

I used the Clip Studio straight line tool to create the bookcase because my straight lines are took shaky for comfort. I’ll work on those lines to rough them up so they don’t look out of place.

It may seem odd that a 400-year old Moai kid has a computer on his desk, but that’s just the way my world works.

June 28, 2021 -- Fahrenheit 111

Another hot day in Southern Oregon, with a cooling trend in sight. Tomorrow should be a balmy 100F.

I’m still working on the waterfall page. I decided that Dylan Dolphin is now balancing the spinning soccer ball on the tip of his finger. Jimmy is alarmed that Betty and Tupa are already escaping into the hidden cave. Meanwhile, the volcano demon is close enough to them that they are glowing orange. They had better focus on getting into that hidden cave!

As the note to myself at the top of the picture says, this picture needs more drama. So, I made the volcano demon very large and copied in the fire from page 22.

The worst thing about a major abdominal muscle tear is the pain of getting out of bed. I cannot believe how many muscles are involved in the simple motion of twisting your body to plant your feet on the floor. I also now know how it’s almost impossible to put on a shirt if one arm is immobilized. Enough complaining. I am feeling slightly better every day.
